B7040 & B797 - Elvanfoot (A702) to Mennock (A76)

The B7040 starts at Elvanfoot (A702 - another fun road) and takes you through the Mennock Pass to the A76 giving great cross views and corners. Both roads are pretty much all NSL (National Speed Limit) apart from a very brief 20 & 30 zone.

This very fun road also has a number of hazards which includes the small village of Leadhills, sheep grazing near the road at certain times and a construction project at the very start!

Here are the photos - the light was disappearing but we still got large amount.

You can see these roads on this map.

You can find decent food and drink at the Auldgirth Inn further south on the A76. There is also petrol station a few miles north in Sanquhar which can be quite pricey and isn’t open 24/7.
